a little bit about how babes came to be! ⟡ ݁.
hey! my name is jasmin (she/her) and i am 26 years old and i live on kaurna land in australia. i founded babes back in 2022, right at the beginning of my own mobility aid journey.
i began using mobility aids on an ambulatory basis after being diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and ehlers danlos syndrome. when i was going through the early stages of getting used to my aids and becoming more confident in using them, i heavily relied on absorbing the content that other mobility aid users were making. it made me feel much less alone in my own experience, and reminded me that i am valid regardless of whether i need my chair or not. i wondered whether i could create a safe place for other people going through similar experiences to gather and feel less alone, and thus, babes with mobility aids was born!
today, babes has grown into this wonderful community of people from all around the world, and i’ve had the immense privilege of sharing and elevating so many people’s stories!

growing up, my dream was always to travel and see the world, but when i got sick, this dream felt far out of reach.
mobility aids changed everything for me; things that i never thought possible were now achievable. after getting my custom wheelchair in early 2024, i have visited 8 countries, and i like to think i am just getting started!
anyone who has ever travelled with a disability knows that it can be hard work. accessibility information can be limited, and places will often list themselves as accessible without really understanding what that entails. his leads to a lot of road blocks for disabled travellers. this is why information from people with lived experience is so crucial!
i hope to continue creating content around travel to empower other disabled people to live their best travel lives, and avoid as many inaccessible disappointments as possible!
